OXVA XLIM Pro 4 Review: Hands-On Test, Specs & Comparisons

The OXVA XLIM Pro 4 arrives with an 1800mAh battery, a 0.98-inch HD colour display, up to 30W of adjustable power, and the new ABT Anti-Burn technology. But how much of an upgrade is it over previous XLIM devices?

At OVSEG, we spent the first 24 hours testing the XLIM Pro 4 alongside the XLIM 3 Ultra, using the same physical cartridge to compare their real-world performance. In this review, we examine our initial findings, official specifications, cartridge compatibility, and the key differences between the XLIM Pro 4, XLIM Pro 3, and XLIM 4.

The OXVA XLIM Pro 4 is the flagship of the current XLIM generation. It combines an 1800mAh battery, a 0.98-inch HD colour display, 1W-adjustable wattage up to 30W, and OXVA's new ABT (Anti-Burn Tech) protection with compatible cartridges.

This review combines specifications from the official OXVA documentation with OVSEG's first 24 hours of hands-on testing, alongside detailed comparisons with the XLIM 4 and XLIM Pro 3.

Quick Verdict

Positioning: The XLIM Pro 4 is the most feature-complete device in the current XLIM range — larger battery, full-colour display, higher supported charging input, and ABT protection with compatible cartridges.

Key trade-offs: ABT requires compatible ABT cartridges. The XLIM Pro 4 costs more than the standard XLIM 4.

First 24 Hours: Hands-On vs XLIM 3 Ultra

Tested: October 2026. The observations below reflect OVSEG's first 24 hours of actual device use.

During this initial testing, the exact same physical cartridge was transferred from the OXVA XLIM 3 Ultra to the new XLIM Pro 4. The coil and e-liquid were left unchanged. Airflow was fully open on both devices.

Test Factor XLIM 3 Ultra XLIM Pro 4
Cartridge Same physical cartridge Same physical cartridge
Coil & e-liquid Unchanged Unchanged
Selected wattage 25W 22W
Airflow Fully open Fully open
Perceived throat hit Slightly softer Slightly stronger
Flavour Reference device Clear and well-defined

At 22W, the XLIM Pro 4 produced a slightly stronger perceived throat hit than the XLIM 3 Ultra at 25W. On the XLIM Pro 4, flavour was clear and well-defined.

Important context

This was not a matched-wattage comparison. The two devices were tested at the settings noted above, not at identical wattages, and this is an initial 24-hour observation rather than a controlled measurement. We are not claiming the XLIM Pro 4 has objectively higher output power, superior coil performance, or greater flavour intensity. Device-specific airflow design and power regulation may influence the result. Long-term battery endurance, charging performance, coil durability, and ABT effectiveness have not yet been independently verified by OVSEG.

ABT Anti-Burn Not supported Supported with ABT cartridges
Included cartridges 2 × XLIM Top Fill (0.6Ω + 0.8Ω) 2 × XLIM ABT (0.6Ω + 0.8Ω)

Key differences between the two devices:

  • XLIM Pro 4 has a larger rated battery: 1800mAh vs 1500mAh.
  • XLIM Pro 4 supports a higher USB-C charging input: 5V/3A vs 5V/2A. Actual measured charging duration has not been independently compared by OVSEG, so faster real-world charging is not claimed.
  • XLIM Pro 4 supports ABT Anti-Burn with compatible cartridges. XLIM Pro 3 does not.
  • Both devices have the same maximum output of 30W.
  • XLIM Pro 3 has a slightly larger screen: 1.05-inch vs 0.98-inch on the XLIM Pro 4.

Upgrading is worthwhile mainly if you specifically want ABT protection, a larger rated battery, and the higher supported charging input. If your XLIM Pro 3 still meets your needs, the upgrade is optional rather than essential.

ABT Anti-Burn Technology Explained

Dry hits occur when the coil heats without enough e-liquid saturating the wick. According to the official OXVA user manual, the XLIM Pro 4 includes an ABT protection feature designed to interrupt firing and display "Please Fill The Pod" on the screen under low-liquid conditions with compatible XLIM ABT cartridges.

ABT is designed to reduce the risk of dry hits with compatible cartridges. It is not a guarantee that dry hits can never occur, and OVSEG has not independently verified a coil-life benefit. You can enable or disable ABT by pressing the fire button eight times consecutively while a compatible ABT cartridge is installed.

Cartridge compatibility vs ABT compatibility

Physical compatibility and functional ABT support are two different things. XLIM Top Fill, XLIM EZ, and XLIM ABT cartridges all fit and vape on the XLIM Pro 4. Only XLIM ABT cartridges activate ABT protection. Standard XLIM Top Fill and XLIM EZ cartridges will vape on the XLIM Pro 4 without ABT protection.

XLIM Cartridge Compatibility

The XLIM Pro 4 supports the wider XLIM cartridge family. For standard XLIM Top Fill replacement cartridges, see OXVA XLIM Replacement Cartridges. Note that ABT protection will not function with standard Top Fill cartridges.

NeXLIM cartridges belong to a separate product family and are not compatible with the XLIM platform.

0.6Ω vs 0.8Ω Cartridges

  • 0.6Ω: Warmer and more open draw. Better suited to RDL vaping and lower-strength freebase liquids.
  • 0.8Ω: More balanced draw. Well-suited to nicotine salts and classic MTL vaping.

Airflow, wattage, nicotine strength, and personal preference all affect the final experience.

Setup and Maintenance Tips

  • Priming: According to the OXVA manual, wait a minimum of 30 seconds after filling a new cartridge before use. Many vapers prefer to wait 5–10 minutes to be certain the coil is fully saturated. The longer wait is a practical recommendation, not an official OXVA requirement.
  • Close the filling port immediately after refilling to reduce leak risk.
  • Use manufacturer-approved compatible components and accessories.
  • Do not leave the device unattended while charging.
  • Keep the device away from flammable or explosive materials.
  • For charging, use a standard USB-C charger and follow the manufacturer's stated charging input specification of 5V/3A.

What is ABT Anti-Burn Tech?

A protection feature that interrupts firing and displays "Please Fill The Pod" under low-liquid conditions with compatible XLIM ABT cartridges. It is designed to reduce the risk of dry hits, not to guarantee that they never occur.

Which cartridges are included in the box?

Two XLIM ABT 3ml cartridges: a 0.6Ω (pre-installed) and a 0.8Ω.

Does ABT work with standard XLIM cartridges?

No. ABT activation requires a compatible XLIM ABT cartridge. Standard XLIM Top Fill and XLIM EZ cartridges will vape normally on the XLIM Pro 4 but without ABT protection.

Is the XLIM Pro 4 worth upgrading to from XLIM Pro 3?

It depends on your priorities. The XLIM Pro 4 has a larger rated battery (1800mAh vs 1500mAh), a higher supported charging input (5V/3A vs 5V/2A), and ABT Anti-Burn support with compatible cartridges.
